Born in 1960 in Conakry, Guinea.
Cheick Fantamady Camara was trained in screenwriting in 1997 at the INA (National Audiovisual Institute) and in 1998 he took a course in 35mm film direction at the Louis Lumière National Film School. In 2000, he made his first short film entitled "Konorofili (Anxiety)", followed by "Békunko" in 2004. In 2006, he directed his first feature
film "Il va pleuvoir sur Conakry (Clouds over Conakry)", awarded by about twenty prices all around the world. In July 2010, he starts his second feature film "Morbayassa" with the main cast (Fatoumata Diawara as Bella, Alex Ogou as Yélo and Tella Kpomahou as a prostitute).

Né en 1960 à Conakry en Guinée.
Cheick Fantamady Camara suit en 1997 une formation à l'écriture de scénario à l'INA et en 1998 à la réalisation en 35 mm à l'Ecole Nationale Louis Lumière. En 2000, il réalise son premier court métrage "Konorofili" suivi de "Bé Kunko" en 2004. En 2006, il réalise son premier long métrage "Il va pleuvoir sur Conakry", primé par une vingtaine de prix à travers le monde, dont le Prix Ousmane Sembène (Khouribga 2008, Maroc).
En juillet 2010, il débute à Dakar, au Sénégal, le tournage de son second long métrage "Morbayassa" avec les principaux acteurs de son précédent long métrage.
